Organization Highlights, by Steve Mallory

In this month's highlights, Steve updates us on the continued
work toward non-profit status. Then he writes to update the
quilt project and to tell us about the state of the new recipes
project. He introduces a new Public Relations Officer, Frank
Ruby. He writes about changes coming to the web pages. Finally
he introduces the new mentoring Program, which Lisa Mikutis
as Support Coordinator will be organizing.

Welcome to the March issue of StrokeNet Newsletter. This month
articles are presented as Web Pages. This makes it easier to
access the data at a later time. Plus it means we can offer
you a more pleasurable layout. Please email me any comments.

This issue includes an article where David Ray reports on his
recent vacation. Rhonda Peterson reflects on the magic of
stroke recovery. Polly Perez has contributed a great article
on mentoring. In Organization Highlights you can read about
the launch of the new mentoring program. Michael Roberts
reviews "My Stroke of Luck" by Kirk Douglas. Then there is

The Value of Mentoring, by Polly Perez

Polly explores the role of mentoring. She encourages each of us
to become a mentor. Issues explored include what it means to be
a mentor, why mentoring is important, the responsibilities of a
mentor, the qualities and characteristics, and the benefits of
both being and having a mentor.

Book Review: "My Stroke of Luck", by Michael Roberts

Michael recommends Kirk Douglas' book "My Stoke of Luck." He
sees it as book which undoubtedly aided Douglas in the recovery
process and one to which stroke survivors can relate.
