  • Welcome to the June edition of StrokeNet. We hope you find this month's read useful. Steve Mallory asks all members to register for the message board and/or the caregivers mailing list. There is also interest in setting a daily time when anyone interested could meet in the chat room. David Ray describes a trip he and his wife took in New Zealand.

    Steve announces a Live Help service now available at the website. He asks that members sign up for the message board and/or the caregivers mailing list. This will allow you access to stroke support services. Then he asks for all those interested in setting a daily time when those interested could gather in the chat room to email him.

    Book Review, by Lin Wisman
    Cleo Hutton and Louis R. Caplan, MD jointly authored the book "Striking Back at Stroke." Hutton is a stroke survivor and Caplan is a doctor who specializes in stroke. Each chapter includes excerpts from Hutton's diary and Caplan's medical explanations. It is highly recommended for all members of the stroke family.

    The website of National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke is reviewed. This interesting site includes data on Stroke as well as other disorders. Information includes basic information, data on trials, and links to other health information.

    Bios: Angelo Leo Carlini and PerryAnn Davis
    Bios this month are of Angelo Leo Carlini and PerryAnn Davis. Angelo stroked in December 1999. In this writing he shares his experience in diary form.

    As a volunteer with The Stroke Network, PerryAnn has found a new way to aid others. Before her stroke she was a hospice nurse. She sees her lose of long-term memory as an asset. She can reread all her favorite books as if for the first time!

    What is The Stroke Network? Where did it come from? Who are the people that work there? Read the FAQ if you would like to know.

    Just with is FAQ? I've seen it on the Internet several times but I've never understood what it stood for. What is FAQ and why does our organization have these letters? FAQ is an acronym for Frequently Asked Questions. It's basically questions that most people are going to ask if they want to know about your web site and service.

    Our organization has a FAQ in order to give you some background information and insight into our organization. The FAQ is linked from virtually every single page on our whole web site. If you scroll down the page and look on the left column you will see a button with a question mark. Click on the button and you will be hyperlinked to our FAQ web page.

    You will learn about the formation of our organization and it's history. You can find out who are our partners and learn about our basic policies. Most of the frequently asked questions can be found here but if you have more please let us know.
