Medical Director of The Stroke Network. His book "Locked In, Locked Out" is
reviewed and his biography is featured. First, Steve Mallory explains
changes at the stroke network websites. David Ray reports that his stroke
club has held the first meeting of the new year. Next Michael Roberts
reviews Shawn Jennings' book mentioned above.
Rhonda Peterson tells a tale of deciding to shift from sedentary winter
and get some exercise. In her monthly review Barbara Layne introduces us to
the Virtual Hospital site of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

David's stroke club held the first meeting of the new year. It was
focused on a practical issue - funerals. Their speaker gave them the
skinny on important data. He tells us the price of gas has increased in
New Zealand. We do live a global economy. That is the US is not the only
location that has seen increases. Finally he touches on the less serious
issue of the situation of yacht racing.

book Shawn shares with readers his experience of stroke. In particular
he relates his experiences of being "locked in" for several months. The
book helps others to understand a stroke from the perspective of a
survivor.

Bios: Tony Boxer and Shawn Jennings |

Tony Boxer stroked when in his mid fifties. He was working as a software
engineer. The stroke occurred a few months after surgery to remove a
brain tumor. Tony shares his remarkable recovery story.
Shawn Jennings experienced his stroke when he was 45. A physician, it
was the result of an injury he received in an auto accident.
