May is American Stroke month. Stroke is a leading killer and disabler
across the world. We challenge each of us to find ways to increase stroke
awareness. In this issue Steve explains changes at the Stroke Network
website. David Ray shares the story of a tragedy, which happened 35 years
ago in New Zealand. Dr. Ted Cole explains Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and
Stroke. He founded Cincinnati Hyperbarics.
Perry Davis raises the question of a Stroke Network pen pal program.
Next, Rhonda Peterson reminds us of the basic facts of stroke. She completes
her writings with two brief reflections. Michael Roberts shares the role of
play in recovery. The website of The European Stroke Initiative is reviewed.

Organization Highlights, by Steve Mallory
Changes continue to happen at the Stroke Network website. Steve informs
us of a new Quick Links option, which solves the problem of difficulty in
accessing the drop down menus. He describes the new message board giving
some setup tips and explaining some of the new features. Finally Steve
announces the availability of a program, which lets you run the chat room in
background on your computer.

Just with is FAQ? I've seen it on the Internet several times but I've
never understood what it stood for. What is FAQ and why does our
organization have these letters? FAQ is an acronym for Frequently Asked
Questions. It's basically questions that most people are going to ask if
they want to know about your web site and service.
Our organization has a FAQ in order to give you some background
information and insight into our organization. The FAQ is linked from
virtually every single page on our whole web site. If you scroll down
the page and look on the left column you will see a button with a
question mark. Click on the button and you will be hyperlinked to our
