    Greetings,

    Welcome to the April issue of StrokeNet. This month we include articles, which describe how stroke survivors are reaching out. Rod Sparks shares the story of a "Walk for Stroke" in which he participated in Tempe, Az. Gunter Wenzel shares photos from the "Stars for Stroke" event held by The Stroke Recovery Association of Manitoba. There is also an interview with Susan Cotter Marshall where she explains her work as a mentor for The Stroke Network.

    Also in the issue, Steve Mallory reports on two changes on the website: the Gallery for photos and Top Sites for sharing websites. David Ray reports on The Lower Hutt Stroke Club March meetings. An article is included with four notices of interest to readers. In her website review Janice Rodriguez focuses on seizures and epilepsy. Bios, which are now located in the Gallery, are of Dorothy Bove and Gunter Wenzel.

    Steve Mallory explains additions within the Message Board. Members can add pictures in the Gallery. This is also the place to go to add your biography. He also explains the addition of Top Sites where you can share personal websites or websites of interest to stroke survivors.

    David reports on his Stroke Club's two March meetings. The first was a speaker talking about the trip she and her husband took to Turkey. The second was the half year picnic in the Otari Bush Gardens.

    Human Engineering Research Laboratories explains a database of wheelchair users they are compiling. The Registry is an informational service that uses an interested participant's profile as a wheelchair user to qualify for approved wheelchair research studies.

    The Cole Center for Healing and Cincinnati Hyperbarics are hosting a free presentation on Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Cincinnati, OH, USA on Thursday, April 22, 2004.

    Integrative Speech Therapy is organizing Technology Training Workshops to be held in Potomac, Maryland, USA. Sessions will be held March 29-30, 2004; May 23- 24, 2004; and July 12-13, 2004. Participants will learn to integrate the latest advances in computers and technology.

    Website Review, By Janice Rodriguez
    Janice reviews several sites, which give information on seizures and epilepsy. Some sites give general information while others provide info on epilepsy caused by stroke. Janice also covers two sites, which give info on medicines. These sites provide information on drugs relating to seizure and epilepsy, but other medications as well.

    Bios: Dorothy Bove and Gunter Wenzel
    Dorothy Bove had an aneurysm on September 11, 2000 when she was 28. Two weeks following surgery she had a stroke. She explains how far she has come. Her positive attitude has been a key.

    Gunter Wenzel stroked on January 5, 2003. His story includes information of how he became involved with The Stroke Recovery Association of Manitoba (SAM). Pictures taken at a reason event SAM held, "Stars for Stroke," can be found above.

    Our Organization
    What is The Stroke Network? Where did it come from? Who are the people that work there? Read the FAQ if you would like to know.

    Just what is FAQ? I've seen it on the Internet several times but I've never understood what it stood for. What is FAQ and why does our organization have these letters? FAQ is an acronym for Frequently Asked Questions. It's basically questions that most people are going to ask if they want to know about your web site and service.

    Our organization has a FAQ in order to give you some background information and insight into our organization. The FAQ is linked from virtually every single page on our whole web site. If you scroll down the page and look on the left column you will see a button with a question mark. Click on the button and you will be hyperlinked to our FAQ web page.

    You will learn about the formation of our organization and it's history. You can find out who are our partners and learn about our basic policies. Most of the frequently asked questions can be found here but if you have more please let us know. The print version of this newsletter is available at the website.
