  • Welcome to the March issue of StrokeNet. Today I looked out the kitchen window and saw the snowbells are blooming. Spring is on the way! Steve announces open positions and the new chat room dedicated to stroke caregivers. David Ray reports on the start of a new year for his Stroke Club. Joe Flasher explains his volunteer work. In the article he shares some of the remedies for various ailments in the 1600s and 1700s.

    Gary Gray reviews "The Stroke Recovery Book." "A Challenge to Mentor" offers guidelines toward being a mentor. Janice Rodriguez reviews four websites, which focus on the issues of how to cope spiritually, mentally or motionally with a stroke. Bios are Steve Mallory and Perry Stevens.

    Steve announces two Stroke Network positions which are open. If you have a few hours available check this out. A chat room dedicated to caregivers is now open. This room is in addition to the original chat room, which will now focus on stroke survivors. The message board is currently in the process of being upgraded. The new features should be of interest. Finally, Steve describes a new service, which is being considered.

    Joe diverts from his usual column covering pharmaceutical insights for stroke survivors. This month he shares volunteer work he is involved with at the Ephrata Cloister located in Pennsylvania, USA. He plays the role of a Colonial Physician.     Stroke survivors often find they would like a way to share learnings. This article suggests some ways sharing can be accomplished.     Bios: Steve Mallory and Perry Stevens
    Steve Mallory is the CEO of The Stroke Network. In his bio he tells the story of the journey since his stroke in 1994. A link is provided to his personal web pages.

    Perry Stevens stroked on Christmas Day 2000. In his bio he explains the tremendous improvements he has made.

    Both Steve and Perry are Mentors for The Stroke Network.

    Our Organization
    What is The Stroke Network? Where did it come from? Who are the people that work there? Read the FAQ if you would like to know.

    Just what is FAQ? I've seen it on the Internet several times but I've never understood what it stood for. What is FAQ and why does our organization have these letters? FAQ is an acronym for Frequently Asked Questions. It's basically questions that most people are going to ask if they want to know about your web site and service.

    Our organization has a FAQ in order to give you some background information and insight into our organization. The FAQ is linked from virtually every single page on our whole web site. If you scroll down the page and look on the left column you will see a button with a question mark. Click on the button and you will be hyperlinked to our FAQ web page.

    You will learn about the formation of our organization and it's history. You can find out who are our partners and learn about our basic policies. Most of the frequently asked questions can be found here but if you have more please let us know. The print version of this newsletter is available at the website.
