Dear smallory,
Happy Spring! Where I live it is becoming spring very fast. The first
flowers have been up for several weeks. The first robin has made its
appearance. The sun is shining and it is in the 70s. The time has come
to dust off the walking shoes and hit the road. If you are able to walk,
get outside and "eat some pavement." It's great out there. Or take your
scooter. Or get out in your wheelchair. The fresh air and sunshine are
enjoyable and can help chase the blues away.
Next month, May, is National Stroke Month in the US. Plan now to mark
the event. One possibility is to host an event around a Stroke TV
program April 14. All of the data is printed in the Notices and Letters
section of this newsletter. If you are not in the US, plan now how you
will celebrate National Stroke Month when it comes to your country. Have
a good read.

Book Review, By Lin Wisman |
|
"Tangles" by Jeannette Solomon is reviewed. Jeannette is a
Stroke Network member living in Israel. In the book she tells
her story of growing up Jewish in Romania in the forties. This
is a great example of a book written by a stroke survivor, but
not about stroke.
Comments by Jeannette and an excerpt are included.

This article includes data on two events, both sponsored by the
National Stroke Association.
Create an Event! On April 14 the National Stroke Association
and NBC are presenting a program called Brain Attack: A Stroke
Survival Guide. Click below to read more about the event and to
see a list of some affiliates who are broadcasting and times. If
your affiliate is not listed, give them a call. This is a great
opportunity to invite friends and relatives to watch the program
together and to reflect. Or, do you belong to a Stroke Club?
Maybe they could get together to watch (or someone could
record).
Next find a letter was received from Phyllis4732 who attended
a National Stroke Association Symposium. Whether or not you
might consider attending such an event, read Phyllis'
description.

Our Organization |
|
What is The Stroke Network? Where did it come from? Who are the
people that work there? Read the FAQ if you would like to know.
Just what is FAQ? I've seen it on the Internet several times
but I've never understood what it stood for. What is FAQ and why
does our organization have these letters? FAQ is an acronym for
Frequently Asked Questions. It's basically questions that most
people are going to ask if they want to know about your web site
and service.
Our organization has a FAQ in order to give you some
background information and insight into our organization. The
FAQ is linked from virtually every single page on our whole web
site. If you scroll down the page and look on the left column
you will see a button with a question mark. Click on the button
and you will be hyperlinked to our FAQ web page.
You will learn about the formation of our organization and
it's history. You can find out who are our partners and learn
about our basic policies. Most of the frequently asked questions
can be found here but if you have more please let us know.
Contents of this newsletter may not be reprinted without the
organization's permission. Please contact the editor.
