Here's
hoping that everyone is having a good start to summer. I
am happy to report that our new raised flower bed now
contains herbs as well as spinach and lettuce. It is
great to be able to step out the back door and pick a
salad for lunch. I am looking forward to the tomato
plant producing! This month we continue a
series of articles about alternative medicine. Chris
DeWald reports on Tai Chi and QiGong both forms of
Chinese exercise. Two readers, who do not
regularly write for this newsletter, share articles.
Maria Erichsen reflects on accepting stroke. Ken Mason
shares a speech he gave as speech
therapy. Steve Mallory updates Stroke
Network news. Jennifer Mason's story is featured. Last,
but by no means least, Nancy Fiduk provides a listing of

Using Alternative Medicine to
Increase Stroke Recovery By Chris

This is the second of a series of
articles on Alternative Medicine approaches. Many stroke
survivors have tried these methods as an addition to
traditional therapy. In this article Chris
explores both Tai Chi and Qigong, forms of Chinese
exercise. Be sure to check out the video of exercises
which can be accomplished by those in a
wheelchair.
