Vol 13, No 4

April 2013
Greetings,

Welcome to the April issue of StrokeNet, the newsletter of The Stroke Network.

The time has come to plan outdoor activities. Getting out and about can help the way the survivor feels about themselves and can help with exercise. Make your plans now!

The April issue has a number of articles where both survivors and caregivers reflect on how things change. Time may (or may not) heal all wounds, but one thing is for sure. Life is not static!

This month David reviews stroke basics. In The Struggling Caregiver, Claudia shares how Wes' aphasia group has expanded and changed. In Speak No Evil, Erin shares how the understanding of being a caregiver has changed over four years.

Jim shares, in Dancing with Stroke, how the experience of being overwhelmed has changed. Erin and J.J. Robertson are featured in Staff Spotlight.

Be sure to check out Organization Highlights to read what is new with our organization. Read Member Celebrations to see who has registered their birthday or stroke anniversary.

Enjoy the April newsletter!

Overwhelmed

It Gets Better with Time

By Jim Sinclair

Like many stroke survivors the stroke left Jim easily overwhelmed. In this article he shares his journey from being overwhelmed a lot of the time to being able to enjoy a live concert.

Those who have not had a stroke themselves will find it interesting to hear how a stroke survivor experiences events. If you are a survivor you may well shake your head "Yes" when reading Jim's experiences.
