October 2013
Greetings,

Welcome to the October issue of StrokeNet, the newsletter of The Stroke Network.

The Affordable Care Act has been a law in the U.S. for over three years. On Oct 1 the exchanges open for open enrollment for 1914. They remain open for six months.

An article is included in this issue which briefly explains the exchanges and provides a link to the official site (healthcare.gov) where there is a lot more information. Check to see if you, your immediate family, extended family or friends can be helped by the exchanges. Share with others!

In Falls and Falling After Stroke, David shares stroke falling data. Did you know if you have a stroke you are twice as likely to fall as someone who has not had a stroke? In The Juggling Caregiver, Claudia intros two new games to help stroke survivors

As you may remember, J.J. (Speak No Evil) has gone back to school to change his occupation. Check out his reflections. Jim (Dancing with Stroke) is one of many stroke survivors who has struggled with extending therapy. Read about his experience.

In Keeping Up the Fight, Angela suggests rediscovering lost passions and hobbies. Deb Theriault is featured in Staff Spotlight
