Greetings,

Welcome to the July 2016 issue of StrokeNet.

What's in your summer reading stack? This year I am re-reading books that I have not visited in a while. It is great to meet old friends. Do you have problems with reading? Try short stories or magazine articles.

Don't worry if you can't remember much of what you have read. It is great to exercise those muscles, and guess what, you can re-read sooner! Have good reads this summer!!

Several years ago Claudia Warner shared her story of his husband learning to read again. Check it out.

We welcome Barb Polan to our staff as a Contributor to StrokeNet. Barb will be writing a column entitled "Survivor's Best Friend" where she will begin by exploring how dogs help Stroke Survivors.

In this issue..
David reflects on Losing a Stroke Support Member.
In "The Juggling Caregiver" Claudia suggests ways to beat the heat. Rachel in "Stroke of Luck," shares her recent experience of a friend's death.

In "Healing with Poetry," Jay contributes a poem, The World is a Better Place with Us In It. Barb Polan, in "Survivor's Best Friend" introduces the different types of help animals can provide. She introduces Service Dogs, Therapy Dogs and Emotional Support Animals.

Deb reintroduces Member Stories in "I Want to Tell Your Story."

Bookends to the newsletter are Organization Highlights and Member Celebrations. Be sure to read both!

Enjoy the July newsletter!
